What “Formulas You Can Trust” Really Means
Parkmore has always been more than supplements. For more than 45 years, Fleur has worked across three branches of Parkmore: coaching riders, matching horses with the right people, and nutrition. Different businesses, perhaps, but all built around the same thing: finding the right formula.
People often see #FormulasYouCanTrust attached to Parkmore Supplements and assume I’m simply talking about what’s inside the bag.
I’m not.
Parkmore is bigger than supplements.
For most of my life, Parkmore has had three branches:
Coaching. Horse Imports. Nutrition.
They may look like three different businesses, but to me they have always been connected by the same thing:
Finding the right formula.
Parkmore Coaching
I’ve been teaching riders for well over 45 years, particularly amateur riders, nervous riders, and young people.
Along the way, I developed my own formula for coaching.
I’m a visual learner, and I’ve never handled being screamed at or belittled particularly well. In my younger days, it caused me to shut down.
As I got older?
I just feckin rebelled.
Now, when I look at the naysayers, I have one thing to say:
Hold my beer and let me show you how it’s done. 😂
Because not everyone learns the same way.
You can’t simply keep shouting the same instruction louder and expect a different result.
You have to figure out how to get through to the individual in front of you.
Sometimes that means explaining something differently. Sometimes it means showing instead of telling. Sometimes it means breaking one big problem into five tiny ones.
And sometimes it means giving someone enough confidence to believe they can actually do the thing you’re asking of them.
The formula changes with the person.
That’s the point.
Parkmore Horse Imports
Then came the horses.
I started exporting horses from Ireland in 1996, and over the years I developed another formula.
I seemed to have an uncanny ability to match the right horse with the right rider.
But it was never simply about finding a good horse.
There are plenty of good horses.
The trick was reading the rider, reading the horse, and recognizing that split second when something changed between them.
When the bond started.
When you could see that these two might actually belong together.
That became its own kind of formula.
A formula for building confidence.
A formula for creating partnerships.
A formula for helping both horse and rider succeed.
And nutrition was already part of that process too.
When one of my imports arrived in the United States, I spent a lot of time helping the new owner find feed they could easily access here that was as close as possible to what the horse had been eating at home.
Then I’d help them transition the horse once it landed in their barn.
Because changing countries, barns, forage, feed, water, workload, and routine all at once is a hell of a lot to ask of a horse.
What you put into them matters.
Parkmore Supplements
Then Parkmore Supplements came along.
When I was presented with the nutritional formulas that would eventually become part of Parkmore, something clicked.
For decades, I’d developed formulas to help riders.
I’d developed formulas for matching horses with the people who could help them thrive.
And I’d already spent years helping those horses transition successfully after arriving in a completely different country and environment.
Now I had formulas designed to help nourish and support those horses, and potentially millions more.
And that is really where #FormulasYouCanTrust comes from.
It isn’t just a marketing slogan.
And it isn’t simply about what goes into a supplement.
For me, it represents more than 45 years of horses, riders, mistakes, lessons, successes, failures, listening, learning, and figuring out what happens when you finally get the formula right.
Looking back, I realize I wasn’t building three separate businesses at all.
I was building Parkmore.
Three branches.
Three different kinds of formulas.
One purpose:
Helping horses and the people who love them succeed.
Whether I’m looking at the person in the saddle, the horse underneath them, or what we’re putting into that horse...
The formula matters.
Until next time, be kind.
Be the person you needed when you were starting out.
